If you want to transfer Outlook MSG files to Apple Mail, Thunderbird, or other MBOX-supported email clients, I am sharing a great tool—WholeClear MSG to MBOX Converter Software. I have used it myself, and its user interface is quite simple and understandable.

Features of this tool:

  • Batch convert multiple MSG files to MBOX
  • No data loss—all emails, including attachments, are safe
  • Compatible with all versions of Windows (Win 11/10/8/7 etc.)
  • Can convert MSG files without installing Outlook
  • A free trial version is also available for testing

I used it to migrate my old Outlook files to Thunderbird, and I had no problems at all.

If you want to convert MSG to MBOX format, I strongly prefer to use software. Currently I use Softaken's MSG converter. It can convert MSG files, MBOX, and other formats such as PST, EML, PDF, etc. That's why I liked it. It supports all versions of Windows. It is not necessary to install Outlook. And the GUI is simple as well. You can also try it.

If you need to convert a stack of Outlook MSG files to MBOX format for use in Thunderbird, I’d strongly suggest giving the BetaVare Export MSG to MBOX a try. I used it during a recent project to migrate a large batch of MSG files, and it handled the task effortlessly. The software is user-friendly you can add individual files or entire folders, select MBOX as the target format, and the conversion is done in no time. It preserves all email details like attachments, To, CC, Subject lines, and even keeps your original folder hierarchy intact, which really helps with organization. It works seamlessly on all windows and outlook versions. If you're looking for a simple, reliable, and efficient way to make the switch to MBOX, this converter won’t disappoint.
