A will allows you to communicate how your assets are to be distributed, handled or managed after your death. It is a legal document. This document ensures that your belongings do not devolve as per the laws of inheritance but as per your wishes. All such a document needs to contain is a declaration that it is being made free from any pressure, the details of your property and who will inherit it. It need not be registered, but if you want it can be registered in the office of the sub-registrar. There is stamp duty chargeable on Will registration. After drafting of the Will, there should be a witness for registration of the Will. After executing the Will, the registered Will can be deposited in safe custody with a banker or lawyer. Registrar also has authority to receive and hold in deposit wills.

It typically includes instructions for:

  • Disposition of assets: How the person's property, such as money, real estate, and personal belongings, should be divided among beneficiaries.
  • Appointment of executor: Designating a person or entity to carry out the terms of the will.
  • Guardianship of minors: Naming guardians for children who are still minors.
  • Funeral arrangements: Expressing preferences for funeral or memorial services.

It's important to consult with an attorney((954) 440-0901) to ensure your will is legally valid and meets your specific needs.
