If you want to import MBOX files from any email source—such as Apple Mail, Google Takeout, Eudora, or Claws Mail—into your Google Workspace account, it is possible, but not directly.
You will need an intermediary email client like Mozilla Thunderbird or Apple Mail that supports both MBOX import and Google Workspace (IMAP) configuration.
In Thunderbird, you need to install the ImportExportTools NG add-on. After installing it, import your MBOX files into Local Folders. Once all emails are loaded, simply right-click the folder, choose Move To, and select your configured Google Workspace account as the destination.
A similar approach can be followed in Apple Mail—import the MBOX file first, then drag and drop the emails into your Google Workspace mailbox.
Alternatively, there are several third-party tools available in the market that simplify this process. These tools remove the need for manual account configuration and are better at preserving folder hierarchy, email attributes, and overall data integrity.
Another advantage is that email clients like Thunderbird may struggle with large data volumes, whereas professional tools are designed to handle bulk migrations (50 GB, 100 GB, or even more) efficiently.
Some commonly used tools include RecoveryTools MBOX Converter, SysTools MBOX Converter, and BitRecover MBOX Converter.
