As mentioned in the TownAndCountryMag.com

Since his firing from the Today show last November for what NBC News chairman Andy Lack called "inappropriate sexual behavior," Matt Lauer has reportedly spent his days holed up in his $33-million Hamptons house, where he's been staying quiet and "focused on family."

But he broke his silence today in an interview with Radio New Zealand about the ongoing battle over public access to the 16,000-acre, $9.2-million ranch there for which he purchased a lease last year. Known as Hunter Valley Station, the ranch is the only thoroughfare to Hawea Conservation Park.

It's a trending question now on the internet.

According to a new report, the dad-of-three is now in a "dark place" for a variety of reasons. An insider told Page Six that Matt "goes between sadness and acceptance of his fate, to disbelief how it all happened so quickly and how the situation was so out of his control." Another source said, "Matt is still feeling a lot of shame But he is angry because he certainly wasn’t the only person on TV doing this, but he has taken the fall." According to the insiders, Matt recently told a friend, "The world is a dark place."
