You will need to apply for a new SBI Visa Debit Card. As it is not possible to upgrade the existing SBI Rupay Card.
To apply for a new SBI Visa Debit Card online, you can follow these steps:
- Visit the SBI website and access your internet banking account by logging in.
- Click on the "Cards" tab and then click on the "Apply for New Card" option.
- Select the type of Visa Debit Card you want to apply for.
- Enter your personal details and contact information.
- Examine your application and select the "Submit" button when you're ready.
Once you have submitted your application, SBI will review it and process it. If your application is approved, you will receive your new SBI Visa Debit Card within 7-10 working days.
In the meantime, you can continue to use your SBI RuPay Debit Card until you receive your new Visa Debit Card.
After receiving the new card, activate it and block the old one by using either net banking or the Yono mobile app.
To activate your newly received SBI Visa card online, you can follow these steps:
- Navigate to the SBI website and sign in to your online banking account.
- Select the "Cards" tab, followed by choosing the "Activate New Card" option.
- Select the type of Visa Debit Card you want to activate.
- Enter your debit card number, CVV code, and expiry date.
- Create a PIN for your debit card.
- Review your details and click on the "Activate" button.
Your SBI Visa card will be activated immediately. You will then be able to use it to make transactions online and offline.
There are three ways to block your old SBI debit card:
1. Online:
- Head over to the SBI website and access your internet banking account by signing in
- Click on the "Cards" tab and then click on the "Block Debit Card" option.
- Select the debit card you want to block and enter the reason for blocking.
- Review your request and click on the "Confirm" button.
2. Mobile Banking:
- Download and install the SBI mobile banking app (Yono) on your smartphone.
- Log in to the app and click on the "Cards" tab.
- Select the debit card you want to block and click on the "Block Debit Card" option.
- Enter the reason for blocking and click on the "Confirm" button.
3. Customer Care:
You can also call the SBI customer care number at 1800 11 2211 or 1800 425 3800 to block your debit card.
Once you have blocked your debit card, it will be deactivated immediately. You will not be able to use the card to make any transactions. If you have any outstanding payments on the card, you will still be liable to pay them.
To unblock your debit card, you can visit your nearest SBI branch or call the customer care number.
