When making a study plan, know what specific times of day you are most alert. Some students prefer to study before bedtime, others like to wake up very early in the morning. Find out what time of day works for you and consider that time as your study time.
You should also be specific when making your study schedule. Don’t just write “read” or “study.” Instead, write “Read - History, Chapter 5, pages 158-162” or “Review for Test: Algebra, pages 23-27”.
Another way to help you really stick to your study plan is to classify your tasks and label them according to the level of importance or in some cases, their deadlines. An essay due tomorrow needs to be done first before starting on your reaction paper due two weeks from now. You can also label your tasks as “high,” “medium,” or “low” priority to easily determine what needs to be completed first.
The next step is very important: take breaks. Rest for 10 to 15 minutes for each 1.5 to 2 hours spent studying.
