In my opinion, the best engineering summer school in Europe is this one by Immerse Education. It’s a summer school for 16 to 18-year olds that takes place in a Cambridge University college. I attended it a few years ago pre-university and it was one of the best things I’ve ever done - it really helped me to learn a lot and get a head start on my subject knowledge in preparation for university.

It introduces you to the kind of topics that form the foundation of Engineering courses at the university-level, so it really helps to bridge that gap. The syllabus is really well-thought-out and is designed by tutors from leading universities. It also gives you important insight into what Engineering is like at university, so that you can decide whether or not you definitely want to study it.

Aside from the academic side of things, it’s also pretty great in other ways too. I made lots of new friends there and had a great time living in Cambridge. The colleges are beautiful, as is the surrounding area. I made friends from all around the world, and some of my classmates even went on to study Engineering at Cambridge University with me, so we’ve stayed great friends.

That being said, I haven’t attended any other engineering summer schools, so I can’t say for certain which is best. I guess no one can. I imagine it’s worth thinking about exactly what you’re looking for in a summer school before you decide. It might make things easier if you also decide which country in Europe you want to study at first so that you can narrow down the pool of summer schools to choose from.
