If you’re the owner of the house, then knocking down internal walls is generally allowed without a permit. If the wall belongs to your neighbour, then that’s a party wall and you definitely need to seek permission. Search for ‘party wall surveyors London’ to find someone who can advise you on this. Obviously, any wall that belongs to someone else (even if it’s only half the wall) can’t just be knocked through.

If you’re renting, then knocking down a wall is definitely an issue for the owner because it impacts the structure of the building. If you’re not careful, the ceiling could fall in and this not only lowers the value of your home but is a health and safety risk. If you’re the complete owner, then yes, you can do what you want to internal walls. However, speak to a surveyor and get a professional involved.
