I noticed a couple of leaking pipes in the basement. How worried should I be?

Well, leaking pipes are unlikely to bring the house down, but they are a serious reason for concern. That’s for three reasons. The first is water consumption — you’ll be paying for each drop of water that leaks out of your pipes, and that cost can add up fast for a year, especially if there are several leaks.

The second reason is the damage the leak can cause to floors and walls around the leak, especially if wood surfaces around the leak are absorbing water. And the third concern is adding more humidity to the air around the leaks. Since pipes are often in dark and hidden areas of the home, adding humidity to those spaces creates ideal environments for fungal growth, which will attract mold, rot, and other fungal troublemakers.

And keep in mind that depending on the cause of the leaks, the ones you see may only be a fraction of all the leaks happening around the house. So you should probably call a Denver plumbers team to give your plumbing a checkup and fix the leaks.
