What should you do if you're seriously concerned about a safety hazard in the workplace?

Both the employer and the employees have a responsibility to maintain safety in the workplace. If you are an employee, you must report workplace hazards as you notice them and act reasonably whenever possible. For example, if you saw a spill on the floor, take the initiative to clean it or notify the assigned person to do it. If there are more serious issues, such as exposed electrical wiring, report it to your supervisor.

Employers should ensure that their business premises are safe for both the public and their employees. If you are a business owner, instruct your staff to address any safety hazard that they can solve on their own and notify you or a supervisor for more difficult problems.

You should also provide adequate training and PPE for especially dangerous jobs where your employees get exposed to chemicals, electricity, heat, etc. If you’re looking for a store specialising in workwear in Staffordshire, visit Grayson Design & Print.
