One of the telltale signs of subsidence is uneven floors. If you notice that a rolling item suddenly veers towards a certain direction in the room, it can indicate that the foundation underneath is shifting.
Wallpaper warping or cracks in the walls could also indicate subsidence. They should not be an immediate cause of concern as they could also be caused by increasing humidity or weather changes, but you should be wary when you start seeing these changes, especially if the wall cracks are wider than 3mm.
It’s natural to worry if your home suffers from subsidence, but it doesn’t mean you have to pack your things and move. You can still strengthen the foundation without going through costly or extensive renovations by having screw piles installed. I suggest looking over a few piling companies with experience in this problem.
